Citrus Connection is the Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC) for Polk County. This special program provides subsidized or reduced-price bus passes. We also provide door-to-door service to physically, mentally, emotionally or economically disadvantaged individuals. Call 855-POLKBUS (765-5287) to qualify.
In compliance with the Transportation Disadvantaged Service Plan (TDSP), Citrus Connection Paratransit is our call ahead, door-to-door service for those who are unable to use our regular service. This specialized fleet of small, wheelchair lift-equipped buses is currently available to senior citizens, disadvantaged citizens and citizens with disabilities throughout Polk County. The cost of these services is a one-way fare of $2, or co-pay as low as $2. Once the qualification process is approved, requests for transportation can be made in advance at 863-534-5500. Lakeland Area Mass Transit District has partnered with OpenGov and is excited to announce our transition from a paper-based bid solicitation process to a fully automated, web-based electronic bidding and vendor management system. Below are the bids and proposals currently being solicited and the corresponding closing dates for each. Our new e-Procurement Portal will allow interested parties to do the following:
- Register to bid and receive notifications of future opportunities in the e-Procurement Portal by selecting Subscribe to create an account.
- Follow updates to existing solicitations by finding the solicitation and clicking the Follow button. This will allow all interested parties to receive amendments and addenda automatically.
- Submit questions and receive answers for open solicitations.
- Guide vendors through the process of responding electronically to RFPs, bids, etc. to ensure submissions have been accurately completed.
- Ultimately, be your one location for all bid opportunities issued by the type.

Purchasing Policies
For LAMTD’s current Purchasing and Contracts Policy manual, please visit the Governing Documents section of this site. These documents govern all pre-award and contract administration procedures. The LAMTD Department of Purchasing & Contracts is responsible for the procurement of all goods, services, real property and construction required by LAMTD in accordance with sound public contracting policies and procedures. Each year the agency awards approximately $3 million dollars in new purchases. The District’s Board of Directors meets every second Tuesday of the month where they consider approval of contracts over $80,000 in total value (except fuel and emergency purchases).

Ethics Statement
LAMTD subscribes to high standards of ethical conduct for avoiding improper business practices and personal conflicts of interest for all personnel engaged directly or indirectly in the award and administration of the Authority’s contracts. As such, LAMTD has developed an agency-wide Conflict of Interest and Ethical Conduct Policy which establishes that officers, managers, employees, or agents of LAMTD will neither solicit nor accept gratuities, favors, or anything of monetary value from contractors, potential contractors, or parties to sub agreements. Violations to LAMTD’s standard of conduct will be subject to penalties, sanctions, or other disciplinary action to the extent permitted by State, local law or regulations. LAMTD’s Purchasing and Contracts Department employees follow ethical guidelines published by the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), whose Code of Ethics can be accessed by clicking here.
