Service enhancements and expansion coming to East Polk

LAKELAND (August 21, 2020) – Citrus Connection transit service in east Polk County will receive enhancements featuring a new transit hub and a new route to expanded service beyond the borders of Polk County.

Effective Sept. 8, the newly constructed Park and Ride facility at Posner Park will be a key hub serving Routes 18X, 19X and the new 20X circulator. This hub stands out by offering many transfer possibilities in a safe area while adding convenience and encouraging overall transit use.

Route 18X will run from Posner Park to US 192. The 19X provides new service to from Posner Park to the Poinciana SunRail Station offering passengers access to commuter rail to 16 stops between Poinciana and DeBary. Route 20X will connect Haines City and Davenport to key stops along US 27 and US 17 on the way to and from Posner Park.

“We commend the forward thinking of the officials from Posner Park and the Polk Transportation Planning Organization for their vision of a project that included the construction of a Park and Ride facility to serve the passengers of east Polk,” said Citrus Connection Executive Tom Phillips.

As the population in eastern Polk continues to explode, the significant service addition and enhancements will assist those living on the Ridge to get to employment, medical appointments, education opportunities and maintain their transportation independence.
